Technische Universität Berlin, Department of Landscape and Environmental Planning
The Berlin Institute of Technology (Technische Universität Berlin, TUB) is one of the largest universities in Germany. As a part of the TUB the department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning has a long experience in analysing, modelling and monitoring environmental changes and impacts and the improvement of planning instruments. Two chairs of the department will participate in Habit Change: The chair of Geoinformation Processing for Landscape and Environmental Planning and the chair of Landscape Planning and Development. The chairs have profound competences in the analysis of landscape functions and the implementation of measures within formal and informal planning instruments for nature conservation and landscape development. During the last two years there has been a strong focus on the impacts of climate change (CC) on landscape, nature conservation and planning. The chairs have also competences in development of geoinformation-based techniques to find regional indicators for changing habitats under global change and the evaluation and adaptation of existing management regulations and practices.
Contribution of the partner to the project:
TU Berlin developed geoinformation-based techniques to find regional indicators for changing habitats due to global CC. TU Berlin also evaluated and supported the adaptation of existing management regulations and practices.
