NatureServe is a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to provide the scientific basis for effective conservation action. NatureServe and its network of natural heritage programs are the leading source for information about rare and endangered species and threatened ecosystems.
NatureServe represents an international network of biological inventories-known as natural heritage programs or conservation data centers-operating in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. Together we not only collect and manage detailed local information on plants, animals, and ecosystems, but develop information products, data management tools, and conservation services to help meet local, national, and global conservation needs.

The project is composed of four Slovenian and five Italian parks. Project activities undertaken by the partners will be aimed at research and raising public awareness of climate change, conservation of biodiversity, and sustainable attitude towards the environment in these protected areas and on a global scale. The project is co-financed under the Slovenia-Italy Transnational Programme 2007—2013 by the European Regional Development Fund and national funds.

Climate Proof Areas
Belgium, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have joined forces in a project called ‘Climate Proof Areas’. Scientists, water experts and civil servants from all five partners are developing new innovative and sustainable methods to help render ten threatened areas climate proof. Within every project local governments and inhabitants are involved to make sure various local threats and problems will be taken into account.

MS.MONINA - Multi-scale Service for Monitoring NATURA 2000 Habitats of European Community Interest
The GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) project MS.MONINA is exploring biodiversity as a 'new emerging area' of global attention. The project offers remote sensing based monitoring services for observing and managing the state of NATURA 2000 sites and other precious habitats to reduce the loss of biodiversity. New concepts and methods combining earth observation data and in-situ data are defined and implemented with the aim to support public authorities in implementing policies and measures. Pilot applications in a range of study areas all over Europe will demonstrate the value and importance of monitoring for the conservation of biodiversity.
