Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Nature Conservation

In the Ministry of Rural Development the Department of Nature Conservation responsible for the preparation of plans and policies concerning nature conservation, biodiversity and habitat protection on national and European level, the designation and administration of national protected areas and Natura 2000 sites, the coordination of the National Biodiversity Monitoring System, the direction and control of the management on protected areas etc.

Many sites, especially the wetlands needed more and more field work, research and monitoring to get detailed information about the trends and changes in the nature. HABIT-CHANGE was a good possibility to expand the existing databases with new data and to see the direction of changes relating habitats and species. The results of HABIT‑CHANGE help in the conservation and management planning of these areas.
